Import Microsoft Excel files (.xlsx)

Details

When importing XLSX files, OxonStat:

• If all worksheets are selected then each sheet is imported into a separate OxonStat Dataset
• Formulae are not loaded

When OxonStat imports it makes the best attempt to identify and load data into columns of the correct type. Since Microsoft Excel can contain multiple data types in a single column and OxonStat has fixed column types. To factor this in OxonStat will read these files as follows:

• All data is read into text based columns, allowing it to preserve as much data as possible
• OxonStat will then scan each column in turn, detecting those that only contain only a single type of data. For these columns, it automatically converts them to that type.
• Columns containing more than one type of data will be left as text columns

When the process is complete you can review the data and convert any columns to the desired type, as follows:

• Open the Column properties dialog and change the data type
• Use the Change type to commands from the data menu, which are able to convert more than one column at a time.

If the results are not as you require you can undo the conversion using the Undo command from the Edit menu
