OxonStatOxonStat is a powerful but simple to use statistical analysis and graphing application. It provides a comprehensive set of statistical options suitable for most routine purposes. Single or multiple analyses are easily set up using standard dialog boxes for each option. OxonStat also provides a set of high-resolution graphics options as an aid to data interpretation.
Data is stored in OxonStat's own spreadsheet style files, with variables stored in columns and observations in rows. If your data is currently stored the opposite way around, then it can be transposed on import. Data can be imported from, and exported to, Microsoft Excel xlsx workbooks and other file types. Obviously you can also copy and paste data from other applications.
OxonStat supports formulae that can be used to produce derived variables. OxonStat also supports Code lists to make your coded columns, such as gender and race, self explanatory. You can analyse complete variables or use filters to work on subsets without rearranging your data.
OxonStat takes full advantage of standard macOS features such as Retina displays, full screen operation and light / dark mode. It natively supports both Intel and Apple Silicon processors (such as the M1 ,M2 and M3 series).
The following statistical tests are available
Each test is configured using a simple dialog box:
The output can be shown on screen, sent directly to the printer or even be sent to a new OxonStat dataset for further processing.
When viewed on screen it may still be send to the printer or saved in a new OxonStat dataset.
OxonStat provides a powerful filtering mechanism to allow you to select the data you wish to analyse or graph. At the same time Filters are easy to understand and configure. Filters allow a subset of the observations in the current dataset, which match specific conditions, to be selected. For example 'All males' or 'Weight greater than 70', all without reorganising your data in any way.
Any number of filters can defined for each column in the Column Properties dialog. A preview of the observations included by the filter is shown to ensure you are getting the subset you require. The filters are stored within your Dataset file.
You can then use one or more filters on any given analysis, using the Filters tab.
Once again a preview panel allows you to confirm the observations are those you want prior to running your test. Once run the output only contains the rows indicated by the filters.
OxonStat also includes a range of graphing options. Available options are as follows:
The following statistical tests offer a graphing option:
OxonStat preferences allow you to choose either automatic axes scales with or without a suppressed zero. It also allows you to configure fonts used for the labels and graph colours.
The Column Properties dialog also allows to you override the default axes for a given variable. You can also choose your own bespoke axis limits and step value, which will be used whenever that variable is plotted. A label may be entered which will be used, instead of the variable name, to label axes.
